Inishowen Kindergarten are committed to providing family
orientated events in the Moville area that follow the Steiner
Approach. We have listed below events we have held in the
past, on-going events and out hope for the future. To read
some additional information on these events please click on
the titles.
Forthcoming Events
The Inishowen Kindergarten immensely enjoy the participation
of the local community and interested parties in our events.
We will advertise upcoming events on the website and in the
local media.
Events to date
Storytelling with
the Young Child with guest speaker Ruth Marshall.
Held on 17th November 2007 in Greenbank Hall, Quigley's Point
with a lunch afterwards.
Nurturing the Sensory
Sensitivity in the Young Child with guest Dot Male
from York, England. Was held on Saturday, October 20th 2007
in Greenbank Hall, Quigley's Point.
Understanding Rhythm,
Repetition and Reverence and their importance for a happy
family life - 15th September 2007 - Participants enjoyed
a wonderful talk by Joy de Berker, Early Childhood Specialist,
learning to parent effectively by firstly understanding the
development of the child between 0 and 7 years.
Doll-making
Workshop - 19th May 2007 - Participants enjoyed
a day creating a unique hand-made doll for their child with
the guidance of expert doll-maker Peggy O'Boyle.
Family Easter Experience
- Picnic and activities including Shadow Puppet Show and Egg
Hunt and craft making - on Saturday March 31, 2007. Enjoyed
by 20 families. Funds raised €850 mostly from raffle.
Advent Garden December 2006 - Voluntary event for
members of Creative Parenting Inishowen, Positive Parenting
and friends. A shared heart-warming experience of candle-lighting,
harp playing and singing, with tasty "Pot Luck"
food.
Establishing a Kindergarten meeting - November 25,
2006. Interested parents from Inishowen and Derry express
interest and commit to sending their children to the Inishowen
Kindergarten. Each offers to help as they are able - finding
a location, administration etc. On display were posters of
other Kindergarten's in action.
Puppets for Peace - September 2006 - Celebrated world-wide
this was the first time Puppets for Peace occurred here. Our
nature based puppet story was enjoyed by parents and children
of the Positive Parenting Moville group. A photo of the show
appeared on the front page of The Derry Journal.
Introducing Steiner Waldorf Education with Guest Speaker
Pearse O'Shiel, National Co-ordinator of Steiner Education
- April 4, 2006 Over forty parents and Childcare providers
attended.
Advent Garden and Craft making for Primary School age
children - Family Event - Dec. 2005. Supported by Inishowen
Parent Information Network and funded by Donegal County Council
Childcare Committee. This was a non-commercial Christmas Experience,
following a Steiner School's tradition. Over 100 attended.
The
Inishowen Summer Gathering - Many members of the Creative
Parenting Inishowen (see below) shared the responsibility
of preparing and running this successful event, which attracted
100's of people from far and near. The Gathering was a celebration
of Inishowen's Environment, Heritage and Community on the
Isle of Doagh, July 2005.

- in Buncrana Library, February 2005
On-going Events
Positive Parenting every Thursday morning in Moville
- a Parent and Child group which follows the Steiner approach
for the Early Years. In it's third year. Run by Moville Family
Resource Centre. Funded by Dept. of Social and Family Affairs.
Creative Parenting Inishowen - a Parents and Child
Group who meet monthly to share a meal and an activity like
walk in nature and singing. Founder and co-ordinator is a
trained Steiner Kindergarten teacher. Member of IPPA.
